5 No Bake Cannabis and CBD Energy Bites
Many people have discovered that eating regularly scheduled, micro dosed cannabis is the best way to reduce pain/stiffness and gain more mobility. These delicious 5 no bake cannabis and CBD energy bites are the perfect way to take your medicine.
Why Make Edibles At Home?
You can find edibles at your local dispensaries but they usually have a very limited selection and I find the doses (for myself at least) are too high. The THC containing edibles currently available at the dispensaries near me include mints, chocolate bars and gummies. Occasionally they get in other treats and bakery items such as rice crispie bars, muffins and brownies. But it’s very difficult to dose a 75 mg brownie or a 100 mg muffin especially if I’m taking microdoses of 5 mg or less. CBD edible options usually include gummies and occasionally tinctures.
I have yet to see an available edible that contains both CBD and THC. This is one of the main reasons why making your own edibles at home is an important for those looking to use cannabis for chronic issues. You are in charge of which strains are used. Want more CBD? You can make it like that. Want a higher/lower CBD/THC ratio? You can create an edible that suits your own needs.
Tip On Taking Edibles?
Edibles will affect you differently than vaporizing/smoking. It takes longer for the effects to kick in (about 1 to 2 hours) but the effects will also last longer. Generally the effects of edibles can last from 2 to 6 hours. The effects from vaporizing/smoking last about 1 to 3 hours. For those looking to use edibles for medical reasons the longer lasting effects of edibles can really help you make it through the day.
The effect from edibles is also generally stronger than vaporizing/smoking. Most people tend to feel the mental effects of oral cannabis stronger than other methods. Keep this in mind. If you end up taking too much cannabis orally the high that you might get will last longer. This can lead to feeling very uncomfortable for longer than you anticipated. Remember to go low and go slow. Take the lowest dose you need and wait at least 2 hours before deciding to take additional doses.
Why Make Edibles Other Than Brownies?
The traditional “pot brownie” is the first thing that comes to mind when people think of edibles. The bitterness of the chocolate and the sweetness of the sugar can mask the green/herbal flavor of cannabis. But, if you are making your own canna butter or oil, you aren’t limited to just brownies. Canna butter will have a milder, less herbal flavor than adding dried flowers directly to a recipe. This allows you to use it in a wide variety of items including those that are healthier for you.
One of my favorite ways to take my MMJ is through quick, no bake items such as Energy Balls. They can be whipped up in just a few minutes and require no added wait time once done because you don’t need to bake them. I use a mini ice cream scoop to make sure that each ball is the same size so my doses are consistent. You can easily measure them out by the tablespoon to get similar results.
Here are some energy balls or energy bite recipes that I have enjoyed in the past. While some are cannabis containing recipes others are not. To create a cannabis containing energy bite simply add your dose of canna butter or oil to the wet ingredients. Make sure that it’s well mixed in to ensure that you don’t end up with some bites containing more cannabis than others.
Coconut Raspberry CBD Energy Bites
These bites are so pretty and taste great! Bonus points for being able to swap out the freeze dried raspberries for any other freeze dried fruit you may have in your local store. Use your needed amount of canna butter or oil to replace some or all of the coconut oil listed in the recipe ingredients.
CBD Cookie Dough Truffles
These cookie dough truffles will remind you of sneaking bites of your favorite chocolate chip cookies before they have been baked. Swap out some of the coconut oil in the recipe for your desired cannabis oil.

Sweet and Salty Energy Bites
Crushed pretzels add a bit of crunch as well as the salty taste that goes well with the sweetness of the almond butter. You can easily use peanut butter in place of the almond. Add a bit more sweet and include a tablespoon or two of mini chocolate chips to the mixture.
No Bake Brownie Energy Bites
If you are going to make brownies then you may as well make these little bite sized brownie energy bars. Not only are they the perfect size for an individual dose but they don’t contain tons of sugar. Dates provide some of the sweetness needed and also helps to give the energy bit its dough like texture. You can roll them in plain coconut or, if you have some available to you, try using toasted coconut. Both are delicious.
Blueberry and Lemon Energy Bites
Dried blueberries are delightfully sweet and go perfectly with the lemon flavor. The recipe calls for 2 to 3 drops of lemon essential oil. But if you don’t have some on hand then you can add about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of lemon extract to the mix instead. Mix your cannabis butter in with the honey before adding it to the dry ingredients.
If you are looking for a way to take your regular cannabis medicine dose and want an easy to make recipe then give one of these no bake energy bars a try. You can double or triple the batch and store them in the refrigerator.
